OSTEITIS PUBIS

WHAT IS OSTEITIS PUBIS?

What is Osteitis Pubis? Osteitis Pubis is an overuse injury which affects the pelvis, commonly occurring during kicking activities, ice skating and dancing. It affects an area at the front of the pelvis known as the ‘Pubic Symphysis’. Injury to this area can result in inflammation of the fibrocartilage and/or ligaments that bind the joint.

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF OSTEITIS PUBIS:

Osteitis Pubis causes pain during and after exertion. It is often painful and tender to touch at the Pubic Symphysis area. Typically, this pain can radiate up to the lower abdomen or down to the groin region. In many cases the patient is unable to localize the pain, which may move around the pelvic region.
