The challenge

Melanie had been suffering from chest and back pain for 2 years. It started after giving birth. She’d been under investigation at the hospital but had no answers. She also felt restriction with her breathing. Her symptoms were worst at night, in bed and were disturbing her sleep.

On assessment I found that Melanie had a stiff mid spine and tension in the muscles around her rib cage.

Our solution

I went about releasing tension from her rib cage using massage and neuromuscular activation therapy. I also worked on her back stiffness by using mobilisation techniques on her vertebrae. Along side all this I taught her how to recruit and optimise her diaphragm to allow better breathing.
