Find the real cause
Movement patterns, muscle recruitment patterns, strength, stability, posture and Diaphragm function will all be assessed to work out what structures are involved and why.
Lower back pain can come on suddenly or be an on and off niggle for years. I'll find what's actually driving your back pain and build a plan to fix it, not just ease it for a week.
A dull ache or sharp pain across the lower back
Pain that spreads into your buttocks, groin or down a leg
Stiffness first thing in the morning or after sitting
It's stopping you training, playing or sleeping properly
Lower back pain is often a symptom of stress or damage to the ligaments, tendons or discs of the lower back. Pain can stay local, or refer down the legs and into the groin. If a nerve is pinched or irritated, it can spread into the buttocks and lower limb, which is commonly called sciatica.
The sore spot is rarely the whole story. Weak or switched-off muscles, how you sit, lift and move, and old injuries elsewhere all play a part, which is why I assess the whole body, not just your back.
Movement patterns, muscle recruitment patterns, strength, stability, posture and Diaphragm function will all be assessed to work out what structures are involved and why.
Neuromuscular re-activation, spinal & muscular manipulation and mobilisation, dry needling and deep soft tissue work to reduce pain and restore correct movement, from the first session.
Advice on conditioning and ways to maintain more optimal muscle function and posture will be given so the pain doesn't come back the next time you lift, run or sit at a desk all day.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No. You can book directly. If I think you need a scan or a GP's opinion, I'll tell you.
Will my health insurance cover it?
Most major insurers don't cover sports therapy, but some smaller providers that cover alternative therapies will refund your fees. Check with your insurer.
What should I wear?
No specific clothing is required
A rough description is plenty. I'll get back to you as soon as I'm out of clinic.
