Find what's irritating the nerve
Neurological and movement tests to work out where the problem starts. It can originate from your lower back or from your buttock
Pain shooting from your back or buttock down your leg is often the sciatic nerve being irritated. I'll find what's pressing on it and help take the pressure off.
Pain running from your buttock down the back of your leg
Pins and needles, tingling or numbness in the leg or foot
Pain that's worse when you sit, cough or sneeze
Usually one leg, and often worse than the back pain itself
Sciatica isn't a diagnosis in itself. It describes pain from the sciatic nerve, which runs from your lower back down each leg, and is commonly caused by a bulging disc, a stiff or narrowed joint in the lower back, or tight muscles deep in the buttock.
Most sciatica settles within weeks to a few months with the right care. Staying gently active usually helps more than bed rest, and treatment can speed recovery and reduce the chance of it coming back.

I will use Neuromuscular techniques, spinal and muscular mobilisation, soft tissue work and dry needling to calm the area and reduce muscle guarding.
I will supply Nerve mobility exercises, core and hip conditioning work, and practical advice on sitting, driving and lifting.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No. You can book directly. If I think you need a scan or a GP's opinion, I'll tell you.
Will my health insurance cover it?
Most major insurers don't cover sports therapy, but some smaller providers that cover alternative therapies will refund your fees. Check with your insurer.
What should I wear?
No specific clothing is required
A rough description is plenty. I'll get back to you as soon as I'm out of clinic.
